Under HARDWARE, select TRANSFER MACHINE, then highlight which ADAT you would like to use.
How do I transfer a file to a location other than the location I transferred from?
After you've selected a file to transfer TO ADAT, click on the FILE icon located next to the file's End Time. In the window that opens, you can change the file's start time. Note that you only have to enter the start time; ADAT/Connect automatically calculates the end time based on your new start time.
How do I name my track?
When you select a track to transfer FROM ADAT, you can enter a name. In Windows, ADAT/Connect will automatically add the appropriate extension based on the file type you choose.
How do I edit LOCATE or TRANSFER times?
You can click directly on the field you wish to edit; Hours, Minutes, Seconds, or Frames. You can then edit the value by either clicking the up or down arrow that appears or entering a time using your ten-keypad on the computer's keyboard.
Can I transfer "on-the-fly" or do I have to use AUTO TRANSFER?
You can definitely transfer on-the-fly. In fact, you can transfer FROM ADAT on-the-fly, then use AUTO TRANSFER to send the file back to ADAT. This method will also yield sample accuracy.
In transfers TO ADAT, do I have to type in my START and END AUTO TRANSFER times?
No, in Windows you can simply drag the START and END times from the START and END fields (the times appear next to the track you are transferring) down to their respective fields in the AUTO TRANSFER section. In Mac, the START and END times appear automatically in the AUTO TRANSFER fields when you select a track to transfer TO ADAT.
Do I have to use the on-screen transport buttons?
No, you can use keyboard controls. The SPACE BAR is PLAY and STOP. In Windows, CONTROL/RIGHT ARROW is FAST FORWARD, and CONTROL/LEFT ARROW is REWIND. On the Mac, COMMAND/ RIGHT ARROW is FAST FORWARD and COMMAND/ LEFT ARROW is REWIND.
When I open a file in ADAT/Connect to transfer it back to ADAT, the file start time now comes up as 00:00:00:00. What's wrong?
Some third party software programs may ignore this header information if you edit a wavefile the re-save it in that program. If you are using one of these programs, note the file start time after transferring FROM ADAT in ADAT/Connect, so you can enter this start time later, when transferring back TO ADAT.
What happens if I edit the beginning of the audio file?
If you delete the head of the file (to get rid of noise etc.), the file will go back in ADAT/Connect at the proper time, but you're audio will play early. It's better to INSERT SILENCE in ADAT/Edit at the head of the audio file to get rid of noise if you want to transfer back to ADAT at the exact tape location.
