About

Alesis has revolutionised the music industry time and time again with ground‑breaking studio recording, electronic percussion, keyboard, and live sound instruments. Driven by a deep commitment to innovation, Alesis designs gear that empowers musicians, producers, and engineers at every level to explore their creativity at home, on stage, and in the studio.

It takes more than designing, manufacturing, and delivering digital, analog, and audio technologies to fulfil the ambitions of musicians and creators. It takes unforgettable musical experiences. Those experiences take many forms; from a live set captured through an Alesis MultiMix mixer, to a late‑night practice session on an electronic drum kit like Nitro Max, to a full‑scale production built around expressive platforms such as Strike Pro, Strike MultiPad, or Strata Prime, or a recording session powered by the legacy of ADAT.

If there is one constant behind the enduring strength of the Alesis brand, it is a focus on creating meaningful musical experiences rather than simply releasing products. Alesis is dedicated to inspiring creativity and supporting the musical journey of its entire community, including musicians, producers, educators, partners, and collaborators around the world. This philosophy is what continues to set Alesis apart and keeps the brand at the leading edge of professional audio and electronic music technology.

Today, the Alesis product range spans electronic drums and percussion, digital pianos and keyboards, MIDI controllers, amplification, and monitoring solutions. Across every category, one principle remains consistent: a passion for advancing musical creativity through innovative technology that evolves alongside the needs of modern musicians.

The Alesis Story

Established in 1980, Alesis was founded on innovative semi-conductor chip technology and award winning industrial designs that allowed entry level musicians and recording artists to afford professional studio recording products that were never affordable before. With high “bang for the buck” value, Alesis introduced the world’s first professional 16 bit effects processor under $1000, the Midiverb. Following on the heels of the Midiverb, Alesis progressed into studio quality drum machines (HR-16 and SR-16) as well as synthesizers, studio monitors and mixing consoles.

1991 proved to be the ground-breaking year for Alesis, with the introduction of the ADAT Multi-Channel Digital Tape Recorder. Before ADAT, a studio would have to invest $50,000 in order to afford a multi-track digital recorder. With ADAT, the price tag came down to $4,000, essentially allowing every home and project studio to afford digital recording. This new technology allowed any artist or musician to record studio quality recordings.

In 2001, Alesis was acquired by Jack O’Donnell, and since then the company has continued to expand its role as a global innovator in music technology, delivering a broader and more advanced range of tools for modern musicians than ever before. Under his leadership, Alesis evolved beyond its early studio foundations to develop influential mixing solutions such as the award‑winning MultiMix Series, while significantly advancing electronic percussion through platforms including DM‑series kits, Performance Pad, Strike MultiPad, and full‑scale electronic drum systems like Strike Pro, Nitro Mesh, Nitro Max, and Strata Prime. Alongside this growth,

Alesis has introduced flexible and software‑integrated controllers, audio interfaces, and production tools designed to fit seamlessly into contemporary creative workflows. Today, Alesis remains committed to developing innovative, expressive, and inspiring professional audio and electronic instrument solutions for musicians, producers, and engineers across all genres and playing environments.
