The Alesis Burst Kit is a complete 8-piece electronic drum kit that includes everything you need to play like a pro. It features a 9" snare drum for great feel and natural response, pedals for kick and hi-hat, plus three dynamic 8" tom pads and three 12" cymbals. A virtually unlimited range of playing expression and the mounting rack keeps everything solid and secure. This guide discusses some common questions about the Burst Kit features and functionality.
The Alesis Burst Kit comes with a 9" snare pad, three 8" tom pads, a kick trigger pedal, hi-hat trigger pedal, and three 10" cymbals (ride, hi-hat, and crash), as well as headphones, sticks, drum throne and everything else you need to get started. There will be an assembly guide provided with the kit for complete setup instructions.
The included DM6 module provides over 100 kick, snare, tom, ride, crash and hi-hat sounds, as well as 40 different patterns and 15 ready-to-play presets. See a complete list of samples, presets and patterns here.
Use the USB port to connect your module to your computer to trigger drum sounds in your favorite DAW. When connected and set up with your DAW, hitting the pads will send MIDI notes to your software to play your favorite drum plugins. The module is class-compliant, so no drivers required.
You can perform a factory reset on your module by holding down the VALUE + and VALUE - buttons simultaneously while turning the module on. This will restore it's factory settings, erasing any recorded data or changes settings including User Kits, User Patterns, and any volume, metronome, or Voice settings, which will return to their defaults.
You can press DRUM OFF to mute the drum sounds of the accompanying Pattern. (This can be a useful practice tool when playing along with patterns.) The Drum-Off Indicator will light up, and you will still be able to trigger all pads, cymbals, and pedals in this mode. To un-mute the Pattern, simply press DRUM OFF again and the Drum-Off Indicator will be unlit.
You can reinitialize your module. Power it on, while holding the + and - buttons. This will restore the factory settings, erasing any recorded data or changed settings, including user kits, the user pattern, and any volume, metronome, or voice settings, which will return to their defaults.
If that still doesn't work then adjust the volume of individual pads relative to each other. Follow the instructions below on how to adjust your individual pads volume:
The Kick Type toggle sets the module to receive either a SWITCH signal or PAD signal from the kick trigger input in order to play a sound. The Alesis Burst kit comes with a switch style trigger (pedal), so make sure that this toggle stays set to SWITCH. If the kick pedal is not responding, the toggle switch may be set to PAD.
My headphones have a built-in microphone. Can I use these with my module?
The headphone output of the module is a common 1/8th inch (3.5mm) stereo output. Using headphones with a built-in microphone (TRRS) may cause drops in your audio. It is recommended to use standard headphones with a TRS cable.
